This Painted Rustic Wormy Ash Kitchen is in an amazing Timber Frame home on a quiet bay just outside of Port Severn. Wanting a painted kitchen, but not your average standard painted kitchen...this customer wanted a rustic touch to fit in with the rest of their home. After showing the customer a few of my ideas, the Rustic Wormy Ash quickly made it to the top of the list and spraying it with a custom Antique Off-White colour made it look like it was a century old! Wanting to give the kitchen just a little bit of a POP, the island was sprayed in a custom red lacquer with the same wormy ash. Antique Hemlock wind braces out of a barn were used to build the island surround giving it another very rustic touch! The countertops are a concrete looking Quartz which set off the tones of the island and wall cabinetry.
This kitchen is in a home in Englehart, Ontario (2 hours north of North Bay). I not only built the custom kitchen for this home but also brought up and installed the Granite Countertops and all the Appliances which helped the customer save some money. The kitchen is built entirely of my Rustic Hard Maple line including the pigmented lacquer island which also has a very rustic look. From the cabinets, to the stools and even to the window trim, granite and appliances....this kitchen looks great it this Northern Log Home!!!
After meeting these clients at the 2014 Spring Cottage Life Show in Mississauga and having them fall in love with my rustic kitchen display they knew they had to have the same look for their small island Bunkie on Georgian Bay...10 kilometers out from Parry Sound. The kitchen features Rustic Hard Maple Cabinetry, large drawers and a pantry full of pull-outs for tons of storage in the small space. The countertops are "Gold Matrix" granite that has been sandblasted to give a rustic texture just like the very rock that their little island oasis is built on! "From beginning to end, our experience with Ryan was great. We first saw his work at the Spring Cottage Life show. He worked quickly to design our rustic cottage kitchen and install it by the July long weekend. He embraced the challenge of building on an island, loading all of his gear, his team and the pre-made cabinetry onto two boats for the 10 km ride to the island. We had a great time, despite the mosquitoes, finishing the project in just over a day. Every visitor we've had come in since the kitchen was installed, walks straight to the cupboards and asks 'what wood is this' and 'who made this'? We truly feel that our kitchen is a work of art. Thank you Ryan." Tracy & Mark H., Parry Sound
With routes tied deep in agriculture in Wellington County and a family with four active children had quickly out grown their previous home. With a new house came new cabinetry but the home owners wanted to step away from the norm and furnish their home with a more "country look". With a Rustic Hard Maple Kitchen and other cabinetry that's fits naturally into the homes setting, it makes for the perfect home for this growing family.
The owners of this log home wanted a kitchen that looked like it could have been from the turn of the century but wanted something different than the typical "pine" looking log home kitchen. After much thought Cherry became the ideal wood to add a touch of richness to the home and the clean shaker lines fit right into rest of the house.
This is our own personal kitchen. Our home is located in the lovely countryside of the Fergus/Arthur area. Jen and I knew when we moved here that we wanted the interior of the home to match the country atmosphere in the surrounding area, and rustic cabinetry, flooring and other woodwork was defiantly the direction we wanted to go. Our kitchen features Rustic hard Maple cabinets with a peninsula finished in a series of steps that makes it look like its 100 years old with many wear marks in the antique black finish and also features wrought iron handles. The floors are wide planked Hickory and has quickly become one of the most durable hardwood floors I have ever seen! The kitchen, and the rest of the home also features a full wood ceiling...drywall just wouldn’t have fit into the look that we wanted and it has quickly become my favourite part of our home. The Countertops are Antique Brown Granite and gives an old look to the counters. The back splash also has a rustic look, and is tumbled porcelain which gives us the rustic look of travertine that we wanted, yet the durability and maintenance free characteristics of porcelain.
When the owners of this 1850’s rule Ontario farm house came to me with plans to update their kitchen they said they wanted something that would look original for the time period of the home. From the Rustic Hard Maple cabinets, to the clean shaker style doors, drawers and panels, Antique Brown Granite to their wood ceilings...this home now has a kitchen that looks like its 160 years old only now, new stainless steel appliances bring into the 21’st century.
This sandblasted Ash kitchen is not your typical kitchen, from the rustic, almost weathered barn board look, to its shaker design and antique Elmira Stove Works appliances. But what makes this kitchen different from all others is that the very tree’s these cabinets are built from once stood where this amazing Timber Frame home now does.
